Makkah Hotel To Jeddah Airport Taxi

Makkah Hotel To Jeddah Airport Taxi

Roughly 1 hour 15 minutes to 2 hours

The departure leg is the one where timing does the most damage if it goes wrong. This transfer collects you from your Makkah hotel and drops you at the correct departures level at King Abdulaziz International Airport, with enough boot space for the luggage you are leaving with — which is rarely the luggage you arrived with.

When to leave Makkah

As a rule of thumb, leave your hotel four hours before an international departure. That covers 1 hour 15 minutes to 2 hours of driving, the checkpoint on the Makkah expressway, and the airport's own queues, which are long in Umrah season.

If your flight leaves in the small hours — very common on Umrah returns — the roads are clear and the drive is at the faster end. The airport, however, is often at its busiest at those exact hours.

Zamzam, gifts and boot space

Departing pilgrims almost always have more to carry than on arrival: a five-litre Zamzam box per person, dates, prayer mats and gifts. A car that was comfortable coming in can be tight going out.

If you are near your airline's allowance, or have added boxes, size up. Two travellers with four pieces plus Zamzam are better in a seven-seater than a saloon. Tell us the piece count when booking and we will advise honestly rather than upsell.

Pickup from Central Haram hotels

Traffic control around the Haram restricts where vehicles can stop at peak times. Your driver messages fifteen minutes before pickup and agrees a permitted point close to your lobby if he cannot reach the entrance itself.

Give us the hotel name and tower. Jabal Omar, Ajyad, Misfalah, Ibrahim Al Khalil and Aziziyah are all routine; the pedestrian core around the mosque needs a short walk to the vehicle.

Drop-off at the right terminal

KAIA departures are split between Terminal 1, the North Terminal and the Hajj and Umrah Complex, and the correct one depends on your airline and the season. Send your flight number when booking so the driver takes you to the right departures level first time — a mistake here costs you a shuttle ride with all your bags.

Drivers drop at the departures kerb; porters with trolleys are available at the entrance.

Why not a street taxi?

Hailing a car outside a Makkah hotel at 2am with six pieces of luggage usually means negotiating a price under pressure and hoping the boot is big enough. A pre-booked vehicle fixes the price, the size and the pickup time in advance, which matters more on the departure leg than on any other.

Makkah Hotel to Jeddah Airport Taxi — Questions Pilgrims Ask

How early should I leave Makkah for a Jeddah flight?

About four hours before departure for international flights: up to two hours of driving plus airport queues, which are long in Umrah season.

Can I take Zamzam boxes in the taxi?

Yes. Tell us how many when booking so we send a vehicle with the boot space for them — five-litre boxes take up more room than people expect.

Which terminal will the driver use?

The one your airline departs from — Terminal 1, the North Terminal or the Hajj and Umrah Complex. Give us the flight number and the driver takes you straight there.

Do you run pickups at 2 or 3am?

Yes. Late-night and pre-Fajr departures are among the most common bookings on this route.

Is the fare fixed?

Yes, it is fixed per vehicle before you travel and includes fuel and tolls. There is no meter and no per-passenger charge.
