Jeddah to Taif Ziyarat Taxi

Jeddah to Taif Ziyarat Taxi

A full day, roughly 8 hours with sightseeing

From Jeddah, Taif is a full day out rather than a half day: around 170 kilometres each way, climbing from sea level to about 1,700 metres. The car stays with you all day, so the itinerary is yours to shape.

The drive from the coast

Two and a half to three hours each way depending on your Jeddah district and traffic on the Makkah bypass. The last section is the Al Hada escarpment, a spectacular series of hairpins with viewpoints over the plain below.

Leaving early — before or just after Fajr — makes the day far more comfortable and gets you up the mountain before the tour traffic.

A realistic day plan

With six hours of driving, you have three to four hours in Taif. That comfortably covers Masjid Abdullah bin Abbas, a rose farm and distillery, and either the markets or Shubra Palace. Adding Al Shafa means dropping something else.

Your driver will suggest an order that avoids backtracking across the city, and will stop for prayers and lunch as the day requires.

Climate and clothing

The temperature difference is the thing nobody expects. Leaving Jeddah in humid coastal heat, you can arrive in Taif twenty degrees cooler in winter and pleasantly mild in summer. Take a jacket even in July.

Water, sun protection and cash for the markets cover the rest. Children usually cope better on this trip with a seven-seater and room to spread out.

Should you go via Makkah?

The road passes near Makkah, and non-Muslim travellers cannot enter the city — the bypass route is used where required. If you intend to combine Umrah with a Taif visit, it is usually better to base yourself in Makkah and take the shorter five-hour Taif trip from there.

Tell us what you are trying to fit in and we will say honestly whether a day trip from Jeddah or a Makkah-based trip works better.

Jeddah Hotel to Taif Ziyarat (with Return) Taxi — Questions Pilgrims Ask

How long is Jeddah to Taif by car?

Two and a half to three hours each way, so a return day trip with sightseeing runs to about eight hours.

Is it better to visit Taif from Makkah?

If you are already in Makkah, yes — that trip is about five hours in total. From Jeddah, Taif is a full-day outing.

What should we take?

A jacket, water, sun protection and cash. Taif is significantly cooler than Jeddah in every season.

Does the driver stay with us all day?

Yes. The vehicle and driver are yours for the trip, including waiting at each stop.

Can we choose the itinerary?

Yes. Tell the driver what matters most — masjid, rose farms, markets or Al Shafa — and he will plan the day around it.
